Cosmetic dentistry
Bonding, veneers and clear aligners, planned on screen before anything changes.
Book onlineWho does it and how long it takes
Our general dentists. Clear aligners are provided by our general dentists; none of them is an orthodontist.
Bonding takes about an hour a tooth. Veneers take two or three visits. Aligners run for several months.
What happens
- A consultation first: photos, a scan and a conversation about what you want to change.
- We show you what can and cannot be done, and the cost of each option, in writing.
- If a change is not right for your teeth or bite, we say so, and we refer you to an orthodontist when aligners are not the right tool.
Afterward
- Bonding and veneers can stain from coffee, tea and tobacco like natural teeth.
- Aligners need to be worn about 22 hours a day, and retainers afterward, to keep teeth where they moved.
Side effects and risks
- Veneers need some enamel removed, which cannot be undone.
- Bonding can chip and may need touching up after some years.
- Teeth can move back if retainers are not worn.
Alternatives
- Whitening alone, or no treatment at all. A healthy smile does not need to be changed.
Insurance
Cosmetic treatment is usually not covered. Some plans cover part of clear aligners under an orthodontic benefit. Check your benefits before you book.
