Insurance

Your benefits, checked before you sit in the chair

Insurance is the first thing most patients ask about, so it is the first thing we sort out. Send us your plan details and we send back what is covered and what your share would be.

Benefits check

Check my benefits

Tell us your carrier and member ID. The front desk checks your plan's benefits with your insurer, in network or out, and sends you a plain breakdown within one business hour: what is covered, what your share would be, and how much of your annual maximum is left.

Prefer to ask? Call (704) 555-0129 with your insurance card in hand.

In network

The practice has a contract with your insurer and charges the insurer's agreed fee, which is usually lower. Out of network, your plan may still pay, but you can owe the difference between our fee and what it pays.

Annual maximum

The most your plan pays in a year, often $1,000-$2,000. After that you pay the rest yourself until the plan year starts again. A crown can use up half of it.

Waiting period

Some plans pay for cleanings from day one but make you wait six or twelve months before they pay toward fillings or crowns. It is in your plan documents, and we check it for you.

Why 100, 80 and 50

Most plans pay check-ups and cleanings at or near 100%, because prevention saves them money, fillings around 80%, and crowns and root canals around 50%, after your deductible.

What we do with your insurance

  • We file the claim with your insurer for you, in network or out.
  • Before any treatment beyond a check-up, you get a written estimate of your share, and for larger work we can ask your insurer for a pre-treatment estimate first.
  • If your insurer pays less than estimated, we explain the difference before we bill you for it.

Carriers patients ask about

Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, Guardian, United Concordia, Humana, Principal, Ameritas, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross NC, Assurant, Careington, Standard. Whether we are in network with a given plan depends on the plan, not only the carrier, which is why we check yours individually. Carrier names are listed so you can find yours; they are not logos or endorsements.

No insurance

Every cash price is on our price list, the Northbend Care plan covers check-ups for a monthly fee, and self-pay patients get a written Good Faith Estimate before scheduled care. Questions: call (704) 555-0129.
